UniSIM starts fund for social development courses
A $1 million endowment fund has been set up by SIM University (UniSIM) for students taking up courses related to social services.
The fund is a first for the private university, and sponsors up to 80 per cent of fees for its Masters programmes in counselling, social work, gerontology, as well as community leadership and social development. Each of these courses cost about $26,000.
Called the Social Resilience Enhancement Fund, it is seeded by a $500,000 grant from Harvard-Singapore Foundation. UniSIM matched this amount.
Three women were the first to receive sponsorships from this fund on Tuesday from Acting Minister for Social and Family Development Chan Chun Sing.
