Rare earth protesters disperse, police remove barricades

KUALA LUMPUR - The Himpunan Hijau protesters, who camped overnight near Dataran Merdeka, dispersed just before 11am on Monday.

Himpunan Hijau chairman Wong Tack gave a short speech to the crowd. Another leader Wong Chin Huat then told the crowd to adjourn.

Among those present at Dataran were DAP leader Lim Kit Siang and Selangor executive councillor Ronnie Liu.

Police later removed the barricades along Jalan Raja. Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad said the barricades were removed as soon as the protesters left the place.
