Spotlight on female and social issues at regional student forum
Over the next four days, 174 female students from the Asia-Pacific region will discuss social issues affecting women at the International Convention for Youth Leaders 2012.
The biennial event is organised by Raffles Girls' School.
Speaking at the opening ceremomy on Monday morning, Madam Halimah Yacob, Minister of State for Social and Family Development, urged the students to be tireless in their pursuit for change even though "some of you may have faced difficulties in challenging and overcoming stereotypes as female leaders".
Speakers from various organisations such as Professor Durreen Shahnaz, adjunct associate professor of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, and Ms Nanz Chong-Komo, chief executive of Nanz Group, will be speaking about their leadership experiences at the conference.
