Celebrity-fronted eateries roll out chic concepts
Singer-songwriter Dick Lee and popular TV actor Moses Lim have one thing in common - they are celebrities fronting new restaurants.
Mr Lim, famous for his role as Tan Ah Teck in the 1990s sitcom Under One Roof, is the face of Zhen Zhou Dao - Singapore Style Porridge cafe, which opens today at 228 Tanjong Katong Road. The cosy 32-seater cafe is run by his son-in-law Sean and eldest daughter Grace.
As for Mr Lee, his Mad Chinaman nickname serves as inspiration for the new MAD - which stands for Modern Asian Diner - and opens on Dec 1 at The Grandstand, previously known as Turf City. It is a collaboration with TungLok Group, and also includes Bar Stories, Top Wines and Bakerzin.
The 173-seat restaurant will serve dim sum and Spanish tapas and grilled meats.
