New York bomb plotter to be sentenced Friday
NEW YORK (AFP) - A US man convicted of being part of a New York trio just "days" from launching suicide bombs to take revenge for the US war in Afghanistan will be sentenced on Friday.
Prosecutors describe Adis Medunjanin as a would-be terrorist and on Wednesday asked the sentencing judge to put him behind bars for life.
"The government respectfully requests that the Court sentence the defendant to life imprisonment," US Attorney Loretta Lynch said in a court filing.
"The defendant committed a host of heinous crimes aimed at killing and maiming his fellow American citizens in order to alter and take revenge for American foreign policy," she wrote.
