Steps being taken to improve 3G coverage, says SingTel

FEEDBACK from our customers is essential in our continual efforts to improve our services, as it helps us to prioritise our network enhancements ("Subscribers show areas with 'poor' mobile signal"; yesterday).

We have taken note of the locations highlighted in the "Areas with poor 3G coverage" online map, and we encourage those who have contributed to provide more information through our official Facebook feedback site.

To meet the fast-growing demand for mobile data services, we are currently adding more than 100 base stations and implementing three- and four-carrier cell technologies, which double data handling capacity.

In the last three months, we have upgraded more than 240 residential and public buildings.

Although we aim to complete all upgrades as soon as possible, the schedule of deployment is often dependent on approvals from building owners and the authorities to install our mobile equipment.

We assure our customers that we are doing our best to expedite the process.

We believe it is important to be transparent with our customers and have launched a website - www.singtel.com/network - to provide regular updates.

The site currently lists the first 20 shopping malls to be upgraded, and will include residential and commercial buildings by tomorrow.

So far, two malls have already been upgraded, and another six will be completed this month.
