Director John Hillcoat and musician Nick Cave team up for gangster flick

Director John Hillcoat and rock musician Nick Cave have teamed up for the third time in the new movie Lawless.

Cave is best known as a musician, but one with talents in writing and film scoring. He wrote the screenplay for Lawless, adapting it from a 2008 non-fiction account of Depression-era moonshiners, The Wettest County In The World.

He wrote music for Hillcoat's film adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy's post-apocalyptic novel The Road (2009), and did both music and the screenplay for Hillcoat's breakthrough feature, the Australian outlaw saga The Proposition (2005).

Hillcoat says: "We work very well together, we enjoy working together. It's all about that collaboration. When we finish one project, we immediately start working on the next."
