Injured Walcott a doubt for England friendly
LONDON (AFP) - Arsenal winger Theo Walcott could be ruled out of England's friendly against Sweden on Wednesday after suffering a buttock muscle injury during his club's 3-3 draw against Fulham on Saturday.
Walcott initially sustained the problem in the first half, but played through the pain barrier before eventually limping off with six minutes remaining at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted Walcott may not make the trip to Stockholm and will be assessed by the medical staff before deciding whether he can join up with Roy Hodgson's squad.
"Walcott has a glute muscle problem," Wenger said. "We nearly took him off at half-time, he nearly went down, but we left him on and on. "In the end, it got worse and worse. At the moment, he is limping so I do not know whether he will be able to join the national team or not."
