Animal abusers may soon face stiffer punishment
Animal abuse - whether by individuals or industry players - may soon see the perpetrators face stiffer penalties.
This may come in the form of longer jail terms and higher fines as well as community work with animal welfare groups.
Members of the Animal Welfare Legislation Review Committee (AWLRC), The Sunday Times spoke to, said these are just some of the measures that could come to pass if the committee's recommendations are accepted in parliament.
The committee was set up this year to review existing animal welfare legislation. It expects to finalise its recommendations by the end of this month, said MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC Mr Yeo Guat Kwang, the committee's chairman.
