PM Yingluck 1st Thai leader in decades to meet Queen Elizabeth
BANGKOK (BANGKOK POST/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will be the first Thai leader in decades to have an audience with Queen Elizabeth when she makes an official visit to the United Kingdom next week.
Ms Yingluck will visit the country on Tuesday and Wednesday at the invitation of Prime Minister David Cameron, according to Ambassador Pasan Teparak.
She will be granted an audience with the Queen, said Mr Pasan, adding that he could not recall who was the last premier from Thailand who had the rare opportunity.
England and Thailand are celebrating 400 years of relations this year, and the embassy in London is among the oldest Thai missions worldwide.
