35 books launched at Singapore Writers Festival
Publishers here are going full steam ahead at the Singapore Writers Festival, where 35 new volumes of fiction and poetry are being launched.
Authors featured this weekend include Singapore-born poet Boey Kim Cheng, who has a new book of poems, Clear Brightness, published by Epigram Books, and Young Artist Award-winner Felix Cheong's new short story collection Vanishing Point, published by Ethos Books.
Other volumes launched in the past seven days include playwright Alfian Sa'at's poetry collection The Invisible Manuscript and Cyril Wong's new book of prose poems Straws, Sticks, Bricks, both published by Math Paper Press and launched last Friday.
There are also English translations of works from Cultural Medallion-winners, such as Tamil author Singai M. Elangkannan's World War II novel Flowers At Dawn and Malay writer Suratman Markasan's story of a village headman adrift in a changing world, Penghulu.
