Runner's death due to natural disease process

The death of a marathon runner who completed the 21km Standard Chartered Marathon last year was due to a natural disease process, a coroner' court heard on Thursday.

Singapore Management University's first-year business administration student Malcolm Sng Wei Ren, 22, collapsed at the finishing line of the half-marathon at about 9am on Dec 4.

Immediate medical attention was given and attempts to revive him failed.

The unconscious Mr Sng was taken to the Singapore General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 9.30am.
