New ministry will continue to support social enterprises: Chan Chun Sing

The new Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) will continue to support social enterprises because they help to strengthen Singapore's social safety net.

"One of our key priorities is to enhance our social safety nets. Social enterprises are important to this endeavour. And my ministry will continue to support more aspiring or existing social enterprises for this purpose," said Mr Chan Chun Sing, Acting Minister for MSF.

He was speaking on Friday at the closing of Social Collab 2012, a conference organised by the Social Enterprise Association.

In its second year, the one-day conference saw around 200 participants from the social enterprise, government, charity and business sectors. They discussed topics such as emerging concerns of the sector, public-private-people partnerships, and financing options.
