Ishikawa performs gracefully in solo, Huws and Kimura unveil intense duet
Welsh-born, Sioned Huws, explored the use of the body in relation to the environment, architecture, the community, its memory and Aomori, located in the north of Japan.
Driven by the idea of juxtaposing contemporary and tradition, and inspired by the harsh winter conditions of Aomori, Huws worked with Tsugaru Teodori dancer, shamisen musicians and minyo singer, in demonstrating the co-existence of all the above elements in a 50-minute performance.
Yoshiya Ishikawa performed gracefully in her traditional Tsugaru Teodori solo, Huws and Reina Kimura, unveiled an intense contemporary duet on the floor.
