Contractor woes leave Sengkang mall in mess

HDB is replacing the contractor; mall will be ready only by mid-2013

Renovations to a shopping mall in Sengkang should have been completed last month, but the main contractor abandoned the project recently and all work ground to a halt.

The company, Technobuilt Construction & Engineering, started on the upgrading project to cover and air-condition Rivervale Plaza in June last year.

But more than a month ago, it stopped work, leaving the place in a mess and shop owners up in arms.

Hoardings are still up, with "business as usual" posters plastered on them, while wires dangle from the ceiling frame.
