Commuters on stalled train told to alight after 20 minutes
Circle Line operator SMRT had to get 102 passengers off a train that stalled between Bayfront and Promenade stations on Thursday night.
After service on the line was disrupted at 10.26pm, most commuters managed to alight from trains at station platforms.
At 10.48pm, SMRT decided to get commuters off the stranded train. The process was completed in 19 minutes, and commuters walked less than 300m on the tracks to Promenade station.
The decision to get the passengers off the train was made in about 20 minutes, in line with revised guidelines that call for detrainment within 30 minutes of a breakdown, down from 45 minutes.
