SMRT fined $100 for overcrowded bus service
Bus operator SMRT has been fined $100 by the Public Transport Council (PTC) for an overcrowded bus service - the second penalty it has received in 12 months for running a service bursting at the seams.
The passenger load on service 925 was found to have exceeded the ceiling of 95 per cent during peak hours on one weekday last December.
The other bus operator, SBS Transit, met all service standards from December last year to May this year, the PTC noted in its latest six-monthly review of bus service standards.
Apart from that one infringement of passenger loading specifications, SMRT complied fully with standards for service provision, bus breakdowns, scheduled trips operated and safety, said the PTC.
