Timor-Leste police peacekeepers return home

The sixth and final contingent of police officers deployed to Timor-Leste as part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force was welcomed home by the Comissioner of Police on Thursday night.

In his speech, Commissioner Ng Joo Hee said the Timorese government has conferred on every one of the officers the Timor-Leste Solidarity Medal in recognition of their peacekeeping efforts.

He also thanked the officers' family members for their support.

"We will never send any one of our officers overseas if they do not have supportive families. Doing so would be like sending them into battle with hands tied," said Mr Ng.
