Japanese bossa nova queen Lisa Ono returns to Singapore
Lisa Ono may be Japanese by blood but when it comes to bossa nova, a Brazilian music genre, she is the real deal.
The singer, who will perform at Kallang Theatre on Oct 27, was born and raised in Sao Paulo, where her father ran a club and was a manager to Brazilian musicians.
After the family moved back to Japan when she was 10, her Brazilian music education continued as her father opened a Brazilian restaurant that also featured live music.
Today, the mother of three young children is Japan's most prominent bossa nova artist, having released a grand total of 26 albums and winning four Best Jazz Album Of The Year wins at the Japan Gold Disc Awards.
