New trial dates for sex-for-grades case

THE sex-for-grades trial involving a National University of Singapore (NUS) law professor and his student is expected to open between Jan 9 and 22 next year.

The new tentative dates were set after Tey Tsun Hang's lawyers asked for the trial - originally from Oct 15 to Oct 25 - to be postponed to allow them sufficient time to prepare.

But there may be further delay. Tey has asked for permission to go to the Court of Appeal to have four questions heard. This request is expected to be heard late next month.

The questions have to do with his requests for documents from the public prosecutor, NUS and Alexandra Hospital.
