Indonesia arrests nearly 800 terrorists over past decade

JAKARTA - Indonesia has arrested nearly 800 terrorists over the past 10 years, local media quoted Indonesian authorities as saying on Thursday.

"They include those killed during arrests. Most of those caught have been judicially processed," head of counter-terrorism agency Densus 88, Police Commissioner Kurnia Wijaya was quoted by Antara news agency as saying.

At a regional-level coordination meeting on prevention of terrorism, Mr Kurnia urged all parties and national components to step up their alertness over terrorist and radical acts in the country, China's official Xinhua news agency cited the Indonesian media as saying.

Indonesia held the meeting in preparation for the establishment of a Communication Forum for Overcoming Terrorism ( FKPT).
