Singapore bourse ends day on a positive note
EASING concerns over Europe's debt woes combined with positive economic data from China to breathe some life to the local bourse yesterday.
The improved mood sent the Straits Times Index (STI) up 14.69 points, or 0.48 per cent, to 3,060.36 - the first time this week that the index has moved more than four points in either direction.
Stocks outside the blue-chip STI also gained. The FTSE ST Mid Cap Index was up by 0.63 per cent and the broad-market FTSE ST All-Share Index advanced 0.49 per cent.
Mr Jason Hughes, IG Markets Singapore's head of premium client management, noted that good Chinese data helped set the tone for a positive day for Asian equities.
