German held with 3.7kg of hashish in Indonesia
MATARAM, Indonesia (AFP) - A German man has been detained on the Indonesian resort island of Lombok for attempting to smuggle 3.7kg of hashish with a street value of US$730,000 (S$902,900).
Mr Rolf Oskar Josef Schweikert, 57, was arrested upon landing on Saturday at Lombok's airport, arriving from Singapore with Silk Air, provincial customs office chief Listrijono told reporters.
"We arrested again a foreign national trying to smuggle illegal drugs into the island of Lombok. The 3.7kg of hashish were found in the lining of his suitcase," he said.
"The suspect could face a death penalty under Indonesian law," provincial police detective chief Ricky Simon Paays said.
