More women engineers in HDB: Khaw

National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan chanced upon what he described as a "wonderful change" at a recent Housing Board site visit.

"I was pleasantly surprised to meet quite a number of female engineers," wrote Mr Khaw in his blog, which was posted online on Saturday.

"In fact, of the team of 10 engineers present that day, six were ladies. HDB has done a great job in attracting lady engineers. What a wonderful change!"

Recounting the days when he was studying engineering in the 1970s, Mr Khaw said female students in the field were a "rare breed".
