Social worker helped to track down man's wife
When social worker Karen Chan took over Mr Lim Pui Chew's case, she made a startling discovery. The 78-year-old had not seen his wife for three years after they became separated when she fell and had to go to a nursing home.
Mr Lim, who is deaf and partially blind, was unable to look for her and did not manage to communicate his situation to anyone - until Ms Chan worked out what was going on.
On Friday, The Straits Times reported how the couple had been reunited during a visit to the home.
Ms Chan, a 26-year-old Hong Konger, is one month into her job with Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities, a subsidiary of the non-profit charitable organisation Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society.
