PM Lee drops in on Exercise Wallaby in Australia
ROCKHAMPTON, AUSTRALIA - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong arrived in Rockhampton on Wednesday, to witness the Singapore Armed Forces' largest unilateral overseas exercise.
He watched airmen and ground troops put war machines like the Terrex Infantry Carrier Vehicle, Leopard 2SG main battle tanks and the Apache AH-64D attack helicopters, through their paces to test their operational capability in the Australian outback.
The coordinated live-firing drill marked the end of the first in Wallaby's three phases of exercises, scheduled to end on Nov 24.
The action took place in the Shoalwater Bay Training Area, which is four times the size of Singapore - a place that will be of "good exercise value for the troops".
