Man jailed and caned for chopper attack on 'wasteful' teens

Man enraged by flatmates using laptops late at night

A hawker assistant came home and saw two other tenants in the flat using their computers in the wee hours.

Accusing them of wasting electricity, he disconnected the Internet modem in the incident in June. The two teens asked Wu Junxian, 43, to discuss the matter with the mother of one of the teens but this appeared to further infuriate him.

He got a chopper from the kitchen before he approached the teens from behind and slashed both on the head.

On Monday, Wu was sentenced to three years in jail and six strokes of the cane. His victims, two students from China, each suffered a cut on their heads. One of them also sustained a head fracture.
