Singapore film yanked from release

Singapore comedy Sex.Violence.FamilyValues has been pulled from release by the authorities for "racial references which are demeaning and offensive to Indians".

The decision regarding writer-director Ken Kwek's compendium of three short films was announced in a statement by the Media Development Authority this evening (Oct 8).

The title at the heart of the controversy, Porn Masala, has received a Not Allowed For All Rating (NAR), a category used only in exceptional cases.

This ruling, in practical terms, amounts to a ban, as a film that has no classification is not allowed to be screened.
