Turner Prize winner inspired by HDB flats

HDB flats were an inspiration for British sculptor Richard Deacon for his solo show of 76 new works, consisting of prints and paper forms, which opens here on Saturday.

The exhibition, titled Beware Of The Dog, includes vibrant patterns on folded paper presented as neatly stacked columns, which look like blocks of public flats in Singapore.

The prolific 63-year-old artist, who won the renowned Turner Prize in 1987, created the body of work during a five-week residency at the Singapore Tyler Print Institute last year.

Beware Of The Dog shows a range of elements in Deacon's print works, from photography to silkscreen to prints of several landmarks, including Marina Bay Sands.
