Myanmar opposition icon Aung San Suu Kyi paid tribute on Tuesday to past models of democratic transition in eastern Europe, South Africa and Latin America as she wrapped up a two-week United States tour.

But she said Myanmar has to develop its own form of democracy, and would probably not be like that in America - which is preparing for a presidential election only weeks away.
