All charges withdrawn against Bangladeshi cleaner

The Bangladeshi cleaner linked to the case of a maid found dead in a rooftop water tank in May last year walked out of the district courts a free man.

In July, after 14 months in remand, Md Repon Mostafa, 29, was awarded a discharge not amounting to an acquittal on the murder charge.

On Wednesday morning, the prosecutor withdrew the three new charges for trespassing on the rooftop and the two charges for possessing obscene and unauthorised movies on his mobile phone.

While he was given a discharge amounting to an acquittal for allegedly trespassing on two occasions in April last year, he was issued a stern police warning for trespassing on the rooftop on the morning of May 16 last year. That was the day Ms Ruliyawati's body was found in the water tank of Block 686B Woodlands Drive 73.
