MP explains why Chiam's meeting spot has been taken over

Potong Pasir MP Sitoh Yih Pin has addressed complaints about plans to convert his predecessor Chiam See Tong's former meet- the-people spot into a wellness centre for senior citizens.

Since news broke last week, some netizens have accused Mr Sitoh and his party, the People's Action Party, of having a hand in taking over the venue.

The void deck in question is at Block 108, Potong Pasir Avenue 1. During Mr Chiam's 27 years as Potong Pasir MP, he held his weekly Meet-the-People sessions there.

His wife, Non-Constituency MP Lina Chiam, who lost to Mr Sitoh at last year's election, still meets residents there regularly.
