Tony Leung Ka Fai focuses on the big movies

Veteran Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Ka Fai is not interested in filming small movies, he says frankly in an interview with Life!.

The 54-year-old, who has appeared in more than 100 films over a three-decade career, is more swayed by major Chinese co-productions, expensive projects collaborations within the region, including Hong Kong and Taiwan, and backed by deep-pocketed producers in China.

Leung - who is starring in such a project now, Stephen Fung's martial arts-meets-steampunk flick Taichi 0 - says that it is only these bigger movies that can help propel Chinese films to the next level.

In a mix of Mandarin and English, he says at an interview at the Fullerton Hotel here: "We finally have the chance and the resources to make these big movies that will be seen not only by Chinese people, but hopefully by Western audiences too.
