Panasonic wins President's Awards for the Environment
At electronics firm Panasonic's factory in Bedok, nothing goes to waste.
Cast-iron shavings left over from machining parts are melted and reused. When football-size refrigerator compressors are plucked from the factory line for testing, their parts are harvested and recycled.
For its green manufacturing, energy-efficient goods and teaching primary and secondary students how to save the environment, Panasonic has won praise.
It is among the three recipients of this year's President's Awards for the Environment that recognise significant contributions to Singapore's environmental sustainability.
