SSA responsible for cap-and-goggles fiasco at London Olympics: SNOC

The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) has concluded its investigation into the cap-and-goggles fiasco at the London Olympics and deemed the Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) responsible.

In a statement sent to the media on Friday, they reprimanded the Singapore Swimming Association for not maintaining due diligence to ensure that the national swimmer Joseph Schooling's swimwear met FINA regulations.

The failure to ensure that he entered the Games with the proper approved equipment, said the SNOC, cost the Singapore swimmer his chance at the London Games. The swimmer was forced to swim with new equipment on his Olympic debut.

Joseph, 17, was left rattled at the London Aquatic Centre. He posted a time more than two seconds off his personal best of 1min 56.67sec in the 200m butterfly.
