81/2 years and caning for NSF who sexually assaulted girl

He posed as a police officer and on the pretence of checking his victims - including two 12-year-old girls - for drugs, sexually assaulted them.

At the time he committed the offences, Jafny Mohamed Sunny was serving his national service as a military police outrider.

The law, however, caught up with him and on Tuesday, he was sentenced to 81/2 years in jail and ordered to be caned 12 strokes.

This, after he pleaded guilty to posing as a police officer and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl on her way home from school on the afternoon of Oct 8, 2010.
