Will it be the Singa-pour GP? Rain forecasted for weekend

A first wet race will alter strategies and run close to its two-hour limit

If you believe the weather-man, it could get wet in the stands and wild on the track at this weekend's SingTel Singapore Grand Prix.

The three-day forecast for the race on the official Formula One website indicates thundery showers from Friday till Sunday - which could mean, for the first time, a rainy Singapore race.

For the fans, it just means bringing along a poncho. For the teams, it spells a headache. There will be the usual mutterings about spray, reflections and visibility, and how it could affect drivers navigating a water-logged street circuit under floodlights.

But it could also introduce the dreaded safety car, and push an already punishing race close to its two-hour limit. Safety cars have been introduced in all four previous editions of the night race for different reasons, but rain - if it does fall - would be a first.
