Japan police quiz man over China consulate smoke bombs

TOKYO (AFP) - A Japanese man has been arrested after allegedly throwing two smoke bombs at the Chinese Consulate General in the southwestern city of Fukuoka, police said on Tuesday.

Yuya Fujita, 21, reportedly told police that he lobbed the smoke bombs "in a protest against China", local media said.

Fujita, who identifies himself as a construction worker and a member of a political activism group, turned himself in to a nearby police station soon after the Monday night incident, a police spokesman said.

No one was injured in the incident, police said.
