Labour productivity down 1.9% in Q2, manufacturing up 3%
Labour productivity fell 1.9 per cent in the second quarter of 2012, marking the third consecutive quarter of year-on-year decline, according the Ministry of Manpower's quarterly Labour Market Report.
Manufacturing was the only sector where productivity rose, by 3 per cent.
In Parliament on Tuesday, Acting Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin had warned that Singapore's productivity in 2012 "has not been very positive".
This is because employment has been growing faster than Gross Domestic Product (GDP), he added. Productivity is calculated by dividing GDP by the number of workers.
