Resident pandas Kai Kai and Jia Jia settling in nicely

They eat and sleep in their new air-con dens at River Safari on Day 2

When keepers checked in on pandas Kai Kai and Jia Jia yesterday morning, they were back to their old ways, eating bamboo, the long journey from China behind them.

Keepers said that the pair, tired from the hours of travel, slept well through the night and seem to have settled into their dens.

The next step is for them to get used to their new diet. Yesterday, keepers started mixing locally grown bamboo such as sulphur and hedge bamboo with those that they had brought along from China.

As usual, the more easy-going Kai Kai, who loves his food, did not hesitate to sample them.
