Kai Kai and Jia Jia arrive safely, already checking out new home
Giant pandas Kai Kai and Jia Jia spent their first night in Singapore in air-conditioned steel- mesh dens, eating bamboo shoots and drinking water.
They are being housed at the new River Safari site in Mandai, nestled between the Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari.
Their dens are fitted with two-tiered wooden steps that they can use for exercise. Released into the dens at 11.20am yesterday, they were seen pacing and sniffing around them.
Zookeepers later reported that they had started eating bamboo and had also been seen napping.
