Man charged for posing as registered CEA salesperson

A 41-year-old man has been charged in court with representing himself as a salesperson without being registered with the Council of Estate Agencies (CEA).

Tan Hock Khin allegedly portrayed himself as a CEA-registered salesperson in an online advertisement. He was also said to have carried out agency work without first getting a written agreement from a licensed estate agent for him to practice.

In addition, Tan also allegedly impeded CEA investigations during a field operation by barring officers from entering the premises and hindering their efforts to father evidence of the offences.

Tan was said to have also provided false information during his interview with a CEA inspector.
