The New Paper's annual Big Walk takes to the river
Thousands of walkers thronged the banks of the Singapore River on Sunday in The New Paper’s annual Big Walk.
This year’s charity walk was a 5km riverside ramble, from The Central shopping mall at Clarke Quay to the Marina Barrage, where the Singapore G1 green lifestyle event was being held.
At the finishing line, they joined walkers from Singapore G1's two routes, with more than 20,000 walkers across all the events.
Education Minister Heng Swee Keat flagged off the Big Walk participants at 7.45 am. Also seeing them off were mascots from the event’s sponsors: from a dancing bottle of isotonic drink H-Two-O to the Singapore Turf Club’s cuddly horse mascots Racer and Clover.
