5th man jailed 12 weeks for sex with underage Singaporean girl

A fifth man has been sentenced for having sex with an underage Singaporean girl, in the high-profile online vice ring case.

Tan Kok Wee, 35, will serve 12 weeks in jail with effect from Friday.

He had paid the girl, who cannot be named due to a gag order, $500 for sex in Hotel 81 Bencoolen on Oct 23, 2010. He was working with the Singapore Armed Forces then, but is believed to be a businessman now.

A total of 51 men have been charged for sex with the same prostitute so far. One of those sentenced, green activist Howard Shaw, is appealing his 12-week jail term.
