Woman's torso found at foot of Niagara Falls
MONTREAL (AFP) - A woman's headless torso was found at the base of the Niagara Falls, Canadian police said on Thursday, ruling out any links to a similar body parts case in Toronto.
Passers-by noticed the torso floating on the lower Niagara River, near the Rainbow Bridge, on Wednesday, according to police. The limbs and head had been severed.
The body was transported to a nearby hospital, where a preliminary autopsy found that the victim was a "middle-aged" white woman with a pierced navel who has had at least one caesarean section and a tubal ligation procedure, according to police.
The authorities said the crime was not related to the murder of a Chinese Canadian woman whose body parts were discovered scattered throughout Toronto by her estranged boyfriend.
