Yang Zi and Yu Mengyu storm into table tennis mixed doubles final

Singapore's table tennis players Yang Zi and Yu Mengyu have booked a place in the SEA Games mixed doubles final after winning their semi-final at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Wednesday evening.

They beat Dinh Quang Linh and Mai Hoang My Trang of Vietnam 11-6, 7-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-5.

Top seeds Li Hu and Zhou Yihan had a shot to make it an all-Singapore mixed doubles final but the duo were beaten in their semi-final by Suthasini Sawettabut and Padasak Tanviriyavechakul of Thailand 11-1, 11-5, 9-11, 11-6, 9-11, 5-11, 8-11. Li and Zhou will have to settle for a joint bronze medal.

The final will be played on Wednesday evening at 8pm. The paddlers have already won two golds, a silver and a bronze on Tuesday and are gunning for a clean sweep of all seven golds.
