SINGAPORE - The Water Sports Centre at the Singapore Sports Hub will allow members of the public to hire watercraft, including pedal boats and pedal bikes, within the Marina Reservoir.
The facility was officially launched by Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu on Sunday morning. Ms Fu flagged off the centre's new fleet of pedal-crafts, and also tried her hand on a pedal bike herself.
The Water Sports Centre offers a total of 66 watercraft for hire, and also provides kayak and canoe orientation programmes for beginners.
This makes the facility the only one within the Marina Reservoir precinct to offer fun-boating as a staple offering to the public. There are plans to expand the offerings to include dragon boats, dragon boat orientation and kayak two-star programmes.
Said Mr Manu Sawhney, chief executive officer of the Singapore Sports Hub: "This will make the Water Sports Centre the premier water sports facility for families, elite athletes, and all members of the public who have an affinity to water sports and entertainment."
The Singapore Sports Hub is offering canoe, kayak and pedal-craft trials on Sunday until 7pm.
