Water polo: ACS(I) hammer Outram Secondary to reclaim B Division title

In a repeat of last year's final of the National Inter-School Water Polo Championship, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) defeated Outram Secondary School (OSS) 13-7 to clinch the B division title at the Co-Curricular Activities Branch swimming complex.

Powerhouse ACS(I), who won the previous three finals until last year's shock defeat by Outram, raced to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter and stayed in control for the remainder of the final.

Inspired by national youth player Efren Tan, who led the way with five goals, ACS(I) proceeded to reclaim the title after an emphatic win.

Outram tried to mount a fightback but were unlucky to be denied four times by the posts while ACS(I) goalkeeper Justin Seah was also in fine form to frustrate his opponents.

ACS(I) coach Lau Kum Weng said: "My team has been playing well, and we also watched videos of OSS to prepare for this game, so I am not surprised by the result."

Despite the loss, OSS can take pride in the fact that they made the finals for a second time in a row.

"We (teachers and coaches) are very satisfied with their performance today because it is a tough game. I am very happy to see them put up a strong fight all the way to the end of the game," said teacher-in-charge Tan Xi Ling.
