Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu was on hand yesterday to help distribute Asean Para Games uniforms for Team Nila volunteers at the Kallang Theatre.

A total of 4,300 members of the public - almost half are first-time volunteers - have signed up for the Dec 3-9 Games. The event, which features 15 different sports, has attracted 3,000 athletes and officials.

Ms Fu, who was accompanied by MCCY Parliamentary Secretary Baey Yam Keng, paid tribute to the volunteers.

She said: "They come with very positive mindsets about making the Games very special for the athletes and spectators...

"Their enthusiasm is very palpable and they're ready to give their best for the Games.

"The APG is not just about Singapore but about Asean solidarity, the unity of all the countries coming together.

"We want to put forth our best not just to our athletes and spectators but also to the rest of the Asean countries."
