SINGAPORE - The skies were dark, the weather dreary but Griselda Khng and Sara Tan lit up the Team Singapore camp's spirits by sailing to the SEA Games skiff 49erfx gold on Sunday.

Khng and Tan finished their event with perfect scores after finishing first in all their races, giving them a comfortable lead over their opponents.

Malaysia's Rufina Tan Hong Mui and Connie Riverra Tsen got the silver.

The Republic's second gold of the day came in the female youth Under-19 420 class, with Samantha Neubronner and Elisa Yukie Yokoyama topping the competition.

In the male youth U-19 420 class, home hopes Matthew Lau and Loh Jia Yi settled for silver.

Over at the Marina Bay, which was also hosting other sailing events, the day ended with Singapore's women's keelboaters taking gold in the match racing event without sailing a single race.

Due to a four-hour delay in races after poor wind conditions, it was past 5.30pm by the time the keelboaters were due to sail their medal race against Malaysia.

Race rules states that there can be no starts after 5.30pm.

Singapore's quartet of Jovina Choo, Daniella Ng, Terena Lam and Dawn Liu won based on their unbeaten record in the round robin stage.

The trio of Colin Cheng, Scott Glen Sydney and Ryan Lo missed out on top place after being beaten in the final by Malaysia.

The Malaysians, made up of Ahman Latif Khan Ali Sabri Khan, Muhammad Farhan Hamid and Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy, won 2-0 in the best-of-three series.

Said Khairulnizam, a silver medallist in the individual Laser Standard event which Cheng won: "It feels good to get one back at Singapore. My teammates and I have been friends since we were kids so we have a very good understanding of each other."

Singapore were also second best in the men's keelboat match racing event, losing 0-2 to the Philippines.

Stanley Chan, Colin Ng and Anthony Kiong lost out to Ridgely Balladares, Rommel Chavez and Richly Magsanay.

Singapore concluded the sailing competition as the top-performing nation with 10 golds, six silvers and one bronze.
